Practical training

Practical training is mandatory and takes place at the University Forests of Taxiarchi-Chalkidiki and Pertouli-Trikala, under regulation voted by the General Assembly of the Faculty (May 2012), and the State Forest Service of the country:
Upon finishing the 4th semester at the University Forests of Taxiarchis (1-31 July), the 6th semester at the University Forests of Pertouli (1-31 August) and the 8th semester at the University Forests of Pertouli (1-31 July). Practical training takes place under the supervision of the School's Academic Personnel and according to the program which is approved each year by the General Assembly of the Faculty. When practice is over, supervisors should inform the School Secretary on the successful results of the practice for each student.
The students, upon finishing the 8th semester should continue their training in State Forest District Offices, according to the Decision of the General Assembly of the Faculty, for a month (1-31 August) under the guidance of the Forest Managers of these units. The objective is that students are introduced to and informed of all activities they have to work on as graduates. The School Secretary should be informed about the completion of each student’s State Forest District practice through a written document signed by the Head Office of the Forest Service, where training took place.


Only students who have been signed up for the courses concerning practical training, are eligible to participate in the program. The participation in the practice in obligatory for all students to graduate.
Students may apply for practice in wood and furniture industries, private forest companies, nurseries, technical consulting and environmental agencies, forest cooperatives, local government and other businesses in the private and public sectors, lasting 1-2 months. This practical training is under the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) and it is equivalent to one general elective course.
